Soho Sounds

  • To celebrate the launch of their first location in Brooklyn, Soho House asked Institute to help creative direct an intimate night of musical performances for both current and future members.

  • Inspired by iconic landmarks around DUMBO, the set design incorporated visuals from the 1920’s Jane’s Carousel, the Towers of the Brooklyn Bridge, and the mesmerizing architecture found throughout the neighborhood.

  • A vivid light installation weaved through a brick and concrete warehouse, with hints and clues peppered along the way honoring the great Brooklyn borough: photo moments, video projections, a single carousel horse, and a lot of free candy.

  • With musical appearances by Brooklyn native Vashtie, Beastie Boys visionary Mike D, electronic newcomers DJDS, and a booming set by bass-player and vocalist Thundercat - the night was scored by a line-up of both well-established and on-the-rise musical talent.
